Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department, confirmed that the inspections aim to strengthen consumer protection and curb commercial fraud. He noted that field teams from the Hawally branch are continuing intensive campaigns, which recently led to two major violations being uncovered and immediately referred to the Commercial Prosecution.
The first case involved a shop in Hawally selling counterfeit bags, shoes, clothing, and accessories. Inspectors seized around 3,000 items bearing fake trademarks. The shop was shut down on the spot, and a report was filed against the violators.
The second case was discovered in Salmiya, where an unlicensed warehouse was being used to sell used tires illegally. The warehouse was closed, and the case was referred for legal action.
Al-Ansari also explained that during routine inspections, teams found several stores offering counterfeit products, prompting immediate closures and official reports.
He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to fighting commercial fraud, protecting consumer rights, and ensuring all businesses comply with trademark laws.
