Customs inspectors at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing have successfully foiled two separate attempts to smuggle a large quantity of cigarettes out of the country. The operation comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling in all its forms.

During exit procedures, customs officers grew suspicious of two vehicles and subjected them to thorough inspections. The checks revealed that significant quantities of cigarettes had been carefully concealed inside the vehicles’ tires in an attempt to evade customs controls.

Authorities confirmed that approximately 1,400 cartons of cigarettes were seized in total, distributed between the two vehicles. Legal action was taken in both cases, with separate seizure reports prepared and the incidents referred to the relevant authorities in line with applicable laws and regulations.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening border control measures and maintaining a high level of security and inspection readiness, emphasizing that any smuggling attempts that threaten national security or harm the economy will be dealt with firmly.
