Kuwait Municipality Monitors Demolition Requirements for Properties in Hawalli

Kuwait Municipality has announced the implementation of a field inspection campaign to monitor compliance with building demolition requirements across all six governorates, including Hawalli.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the municipality said the campaign is being carried out by safety departments to ensure that demolition works for all types of properties—private residential, investment, commercial, industrial, and chalet buildings—are conducted in accordance with approved regulations and systems. The inspections also focus on ensuring that demolition activities are performed by classified demolition contractors and that all required demolition permits are properly issued.

The municipality emphasized the supervisory role of safety management teams, which include national engineering staff, in monitoring demolition procedures. These teams are responsible for overseeing demolition works, ensuring contractor classification compliance, enforcing safety regulations, and taking necessary legal action against violators.

In this context, Engineer Khaled Al-Otaibi, Director of the Safety Department at the Hawalli Governorate Municipality branch, stated that the department’s supervisory team conducted a field tour to inspect several properties scheduled for demolition. The inspections confirmed that the properties complied with safety requirements and possessed valid demolition licenses, helping to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

Engineer Al-Otaibi added that 16 safety licenses were issued during the campaign, including 12 licenses for private housing and 4 licenses for investment housing.

The municipality reaffirmed its commitment to continuing inspection campaigns to ensure full compliance with demolition regulations and to maintain the safety of residents and surrounding areas.
