Kuwait Interior Ministry Crackdown: Over 22,000 Violations Issued and 29 Reckless Drivers Arrested in One Week

KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwait Ministry of Interior has intensified its security and traffic presence across the country, resulting in a significant crackdown on road violations and wanted individuals over the past week.

According to a statement released by the General Traffic Department, officials recorded 22,479 traffic violations during a series of field campaigns targeting both internal and external roads in all six governorates.

Crackdown on Reckless Driving and Minors Colonel Fahad Al-Issa, Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, confirmed that 29 reckless drivers were arrested and detained. Additionally, authorities impounded 350 vehicles and 35 motorcycles for various severe infractions.

A concerning trend regarding minors was also highlighted, with 22 juveniles referred to the Juvenile Prosecution after being caught driving without licenses.

Accidents and Security Arrests The department responded to 2,426 reports during the week. These included 956 minor collisions and 266 accidents resulting in injuries.

Beyond traffic safety, the campaigns served a broader security purpose. Patrols apprehended 55 wanted individuals involved in various criminal and civil cases, alongside 19 expatriates found with expired residency permits. One individual was arrested in an abnormal state and referred to the Drug Control General Department.

Rescue Police Efforts Simultaneously, the Rescue Police (Al-Najda) executed parallel operations, issuing over 2,400 violations and arresting 37 wanted persons. They also provided humanitarian assistance in 373 cases and intervened to control five public brawls.

The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to continuing these campaigns to ensure road safety and enforce the law rigorously.
