Air Arabia was founded on 3 February 2003 by an Amiri Decree issued by Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council. The airline launched its first commercial flight on 28 October 2003 and achieved break-even within its first year of operations—an impressive milestone in the aviation sector.

In 2007, Air Arabia launched a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO), offering 55% of its shares to the public, further strengthening its financial foundation and corporate transparency.
