The Ministry of Public Works is mobilizing to deal with rainwater accumulation

Since early yesterday morning, the country has experienced rain of different levels in some places. This caused water to collect in certain areas. The Ministry quickly responded after receiving reports and sent emergency teams to remove the water. They also stayed in places that are known for flooding.

The Ministry is working together with other government departments to keep roads safe during the rainy weather.

Meteorologist Issa Ramadan said that rainfall in March and April was higher than usual. This has helped plants and flowers grow more, and they are still growing in April.

He explained that April usually becomes warmer, with longer days. Recently, there have been noticeable changes in the weather, and current conditions may be similar to those from more than 100 years ago. Rainfall used to be low in the past years, but it has increased recently.

He also said that the clouds will slowly clear, and the rain is expected to stop. The weather should improve on Sunday and Monday, becoming more like spring. Sunny weather is expected until Wednesday, followed by partly cloudy weather until Friday.

This period is called the “pre-Sariyat” season. By mid-April, the “Sariyat” season begins, when local clouds form and bring more rain.

In another update, the GCC Statistical Center reported that rainfall in the region increased by 49.4% in 2024 compared to the average from 1980 to 2010. This shows clear changes in weather patterns in the Gulf region.

The report also mentioned that temperatures have remained stable. Data from 23 monitoring stations showed that maximum temperatures stayed below 49°C between 2012 and 2024, with no extreme increases above this level.
