Kuwait City: The General Traffic Department will soon roll out an advanced electronic monitoring system covering taxis, food delivery vehicles, rental cars, and public transport services, officials announced on Sunday.
The new system will use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to automatically monitor road behavior, detect traffic violations in real time, and issue fines electronically, aiming to strengthen road safety and improve traffic discipline across the country.
Brigadier General Khaled Al-Adwani, Assistant Director General for Coordination and Education Affairs, said the violations will be recorded immediately once committed, reducing the need for manual enforcement and ensuring faster and more accurate penalties.Stay informed about Kuwait’s latest financial news, visa updates, and job openings by joining our WhatsApp channel:

Comprehensive monitoring system
According to officials, the system will monitor:
- Taxis and ride-hailing vehicles
- Consumer goods and food delivery drivers
- Car rental and daily rental vehicles
- Public transport services
The initiative is expected to improve compliance with traffic laws, reduce reckless driving, and increase accountability among commercial drivers.
Al-Adwani added that delivery applications will also be integrated into the monitoring framework, allowing better regulation of the rapidly growing delivery sector.
National forum announced
The announcement came during a press conference for the upcoming National Forum for Transportation and Smart Services, organized in partnership with Al-Jazz Events and attended by both public and private sector representatives.
CEO Mohammed Al-Ibrahim described the forum as a strategic step toward shaping the future of Kuwait’s transportation ecosystem through stronger public-private cooperation.
Private sector participation
Several major companies are supporting the initiative, including Talabat, Careem, and Uber.
Head of Corporate Affairs at Talabat Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Mansour, said the company is committed to building a well-governed and innovative smart services sector that supports businesses and delivery operators.
Meanwhile, regional director Bilal Baydoun highlighted plans to introduce advanced technologies and improve the passenger experience in Kuwait.
Supporting Kuwait’s digital vision
The initiative aligns with Kuwait’s ongoing digital transformation plans aimed at enhancing public services, increasing safety standards, and adopting smart city technologies.
Authorities believe the AI-powered system will help reduce violations, protect road users, and create a safer and more efficient transportation environment nationwide.
