P. A. Ibrahim – Founder of PACE Group

Life occasionally blesses us with extraordinary individuals whose vision and values create lasting impact across generations. Late Dr P. A. Ibrahim, fondly known as “Haji Sahib” or “Hajikka,” was one such visionary humanitarian businessman whose life journey continues to inspire thousands across the UAE and India.

Early Life and Values

Born on September 6, 1943, in Pallikere, Kasargod, Kerala, as the fourth child in a family of ten, Dr Ibrahim’s early life was shaped by perseverance and determination. He walked miles and crossed the Bekkal river by ferry each day to attend primary school at Government Mappila LP School and later completed his secondary education at Kottikulam Government Fisheries High School.

At a time when higher education was not widely encouraged in his region, he pursued a Diploma in Automobile Engineering—demonstrating his commitment to self-improvement and lifelong learning.

His parents, Pallikere Abdullah and Aiysha, instilled in him values of discipline, honesty, kindness, patience, and hard work—principles that became the foundation of his personal and professional life.

Entrepreneurial Journey

After working in Madras and Bombay, Dr Ibrahim moved to Dubai in 1966 during the early years of its oil-driven growth. His career included positions with the British Motor Corporation, Galadari Automobiles, and Al Hashar Automobiles in Muscat, where he excelled as a salesman and manager.

However, his aspiration extended beyond employment—he envisioned building businesses that would serve society. In 1976, he entered the textile industry and later became Chairman of the Textiles Merchants Association (TEXMAS), earning respect for his leadership and credibility.

In 1984, alongside T.M. Nair, he co-founded Indus Motor Company, which grew to become India’s largest dealer of Maruti Suzuki vehicles. In 2003, he became Co-Chairman and key investor of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, contributing significantly to its rise as one of the world’s leading gold and jewellery retail groups operating across multiple countries. He also served as Co-Chairman of the Malabar Charitable Trust, supporting housing and medical aid initiatives for the underprivileged.

The Birth of PACE Group

In 1999, driven by his belief that education empowers society, Dr P. A. Ibrahim founded PACE Group. He believed education was not merely about acquiring knowledge but about transforming knowledge into meaningful action for the betterment of humanity.

Today, PACE Group manages:

18 educational institutions
Over 23,000 students from 67 nationalities
More than 2,300 teaching and non-teaching staff

The group offers both British and CBSE Indian curricula from Kindergarten to Grade 12, along with higher education institutions in India across disciplines such as Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Polytechnic, and Arts & Science. The group also manages the University of West London branch campus in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

A Legacy of Faith and Service

Despite his remarkable success, Dr Ibrahim remained humble and deeply spiritual. An avid learner of the Holy Qur’an, he regularly attended religious gatherings and viewed his achievements as blessings and responsibilities entrusted to him by the Almighty.

He passed away on December 21, 2021, and was laid to rest at Najmul Huda Madrasa in Manjeri, Kerala—an institution close to his heart.

Enduring Impact

Dr P. A. Ibrahim’s legacy lives on through the institutions he built and the lives he transformed. His family and associates continue to uphold his values of service, integrity, and compassion, ensuring that his vision for education and social welfare reaches even greater heights.

To many, he was not only a successful entrepreneur and educationalist but also a mentor, guide, philanthropist, and friend—remembered for his boundless wisdom and ever-present smile.

Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the UK curriculum framework
Monitor, assess, and track student progress effectively
Provide pastoral support and promote students’ well-being
Manage classroom routines, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs
Foster a strong classroom community built on respect and collaboration
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student development
Liaise with colleagues and school leadership to support holistic student growth
