Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) Career:APPLY NOW FOR THE LATEST VACANCIES

sharjah national oil corporation, commonly known as snoc, is the state owned energy enterprise of the emirate of sharjah in the united arab emirates. established in 2010 by an emiri decree issued by the ruler of sharjah, the organization was formed to manage, explore, and develop the emirate’s hydrocarbon resources. as a fully government owned entity, snoc plays a vital role in securing domestic energy supplies, driving industrial growth, and supporting the broader economic diversification goals of the united arab emirates.

the foundations of sharjah’s oil and gas sector trace back to the landmark discovery of the sajaa gas and condensate field in the late 1970s and early 1980s. when legacy international concession agreements reached their natural conclusion, snoc was established to take over operations and assume full ownership of these strategic assets. today, the corporation oversees the entire energy value chain, ranging from upstream exploration and production to midstream gas processing, underground storage, marine terminal logistics, trading, and low carbon energy transition projects.

in the upstream sector, snoc manages producing onshore fields including sajaa, kahaif, moveyeid, hedebah, and mahani. the mahani field, discovered in early 2020 in partnership with italian energy firm eni, represented the first new onshore natural gas discovery in sharjah in nearly four decades. snoc continuously applies modern technologies, such as advanced 3d seismic surveys and underbalanced drilling techniques, to maximize recovery from mature reservoirs and unlock new natural gas reserves across its concession areas.

midstream operations form another core pillar of the corporation. snoc operates the central sajaa gas processing complex, which serves as a major regional gas hub. this facility receives raw gas and processes it into dry clean gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and condensate. the processed dry gas is distributed through an extensive pipeline network to meet the fuel requirements of local utilities, primarily the sharjah electricity, water and gas authority, which relies on these supplies for power generation and water desalination.

to address seasonal fluctuations in domestic energy demand, snoc developed a major subsurface gas storage facility at the moveyeid field. this project allows the corporation to store surplus natural gas during low demand periods and re-inject it back into the grid during peak summer months, significantly strengthening the energy security and operational flexibility of the emirate. additionally, snoc manages marine export terminals located at hamriyah, equipped with storage tanks and offshore loading facilities for handling condensate and liquefied petroleum gas shipments.

sustainability and environmental stewardship are increasingly central to snoc’s corporate vision. the organization is actively working toward net zero operational emissions by integrating renewable energy and carbon management solutions into its operations. snoc constructed a 60 megawatt solar power plant at its al sajaa complex to power its facilities using clean electricity, with excess power supplied directly to the local grid. Furthermore, the corporation is exploring carbon capture and storage feasibility using depleted gas reservoirs, alongside potential green hydrogen and geothermal projects.

through its strategic focus on natural gas development, modern infrastructure, global energy partnerships, and clean energy transition initiatives, sharjah national oil corporation continues to serve as a cornerstone of energy security and sustainable industrial development in the region.
