Albwardy Marine Engineering was founded in 1978 and became a joint venture partner with Damen Shipyards Group in 2008, when Damen acquired a 49% stake. In the same year, Damen Shipyards Sharjah was inaugurated in the Hamriyah Free Zone.

Water depth up to 8 metres
Docking capacity for vessels up to 120 metres

Drydocking services are also available in Dubai (Al Jadaf and Dubai Maritime City), accommodating vessels up to 130 x 33 metres.

In 1978, Ali Albwardy established Albwardy Marine Engineering in Al Jadaf, contributing to the development of Dubai as a maritime hub. Over four decades, the company has grown into one of the UAE’s leading shipbuilding and shiprepair providers.

In 2018, Albwardy Damen celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking decades of service excellence and maritime expertise.

Today, the company employs approximately 2,000 professionals from 26 nationalities, with 15% of staff serving for over 25 years — reflecting strong employee loyalty and organizational stability.
