Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi stated that the project site possesses exceptional natural and geological features, and efforts are underway to develop it in an attractive and innovative manner that aligns with national aspirations and enhances Kuwait’s tourism assets.

During an inspection visit to the project location, Al-Mutairi explained that Geo Park Kuwait reflects a vision of transforming challenges into promising opportunities, emphasizing that current indicators point toward the creation of a distinctive and attractive national tourist destination with broad stakeholder participation.

He noted that the project is closely connected to the local environment and climate, and is situated on land with a unique geological character, making it a high-quality tourism destination for visitors from both inside and outside Kuwait. The project will offer integrated scientific content, diverse visitor services, and a desert-themed experience that reflects the identity of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Al-Mutairi described the project as a promising and ambitious step in the development of national tourism.

Archaeological and Historical Significance

Meanwhile, Mohammed Al-Abduljalil, Deputy CEO for Planning and Innovation at Kuwait Oil Company, highlighted the site’s exceptional historical importance, noting its connection to archaeological remains dating back to the Ubaid period (approximately 5500–4900 BCE)—one of the earliest civilizations in the Arabian Gulf region.

He explained that archaeological studies suggest the area represents an early stage of human settlement and cultural interaction among Gulf coastal communities, giving the site profound historical and human significance.

Project Scope and Facilities

The Geo Park Kuwait project is designed as an open-air museum and a living cultural memory, aiming to position Kuwait as a global destination in geology, archaeology, environmental studies, and natural heritage tourism.
