Municipality: Over 5,000 Abandoned Vehicles Removed, 5,557 Violations Issued

Kuwait Municipality announced the results of the work carried out by the Public Hygiene and Road Occupancy Department at the Farwaniya Governorate branch over the past year.

According to the municipality, inspection teams removed 5,122 abandoned and scrap vehicles from streets and public areas and transferred them to the municipality’s impound yard. These actions are part of continuous inspection campaigns carried out around the clock to reduce road violations, protect public property, and improve cleanliness.

The Director of the department, Mohammad Al-Jab’ah, explained that before any vehicle is removed, a warning notice is placed on it. This notice gives the vehicle owner a final deadline to move the car. If the owner fails to do so, the vehicle is impounded and can only be released after paying the required fees.

Al-Jab’ah added that during the year, inspectors placed 18,463 warning stickers on abandoned vehicles, issued 3,753 pledges, and delivered 4,094 warnings across all areas of the governorate. As a result of these efforts, 3,312 vehicles were later released after owners completed the necessary procedures.

In addition, the department issued a total of 5,557 violations, including:

  • 1,041 violations against street vendors
  • 771 violations for road obstruction
  • 3,686 violations related to public cleanliness
  • 59 violations under Law No. 87/9

The municipality also reported issuing 127 new licenses and renewing 132 existing licenses during the same period.

These campaigns aim to maintain public order, ensure clean surroundings, and prevent misuse of public spaces.
